North East Group

We normally meet at breakfast and look to start at 8.30 a.m. and try to be finished within 90 minutes. We have tended so far to meet in Leeds and Newcastle but subject to available space we can meet anywhere in the region. Perhaps somewhere in the South Durham/North Yorkshire area might attract members from both ends of the geographical area.

The NE/Yorkshire group has tended to meet when someone has an interesting story to tell about their projects although we would be happy to have open discussions as well. It is very much up to the members to suggest topics for discussion and networking sessions.

We have already had some interesting talks on:

Lean in the Ministry of Justice – a case study.

Lean as a sustainable methodology [can lean improve Passivhaus projects?]

Using Last planner as a tool for improving small works delivery.

So if anyone has any ideas then please contact Eric Johansen or Louise Ebrey and they will try and assist in setting something up.

Topics of interest for future sessions are:

  • Knowledge sharing/knowledge transfer
  • User Engagement
  • Tools and examples of how they have been used and the measurable benefits of using them. People are interested in any tool which has evidence to back it up.

If you have a presentation you can give to the group on any of these topics of something else you think would be of interest or can host the meeting, please let Louise Ebrey know.

We are trying to keep the meetings free and open to anyone with an interest in Lean Construction. In order to do this, I need help from everyone, whether it be resources, sharing your presentations, facilitating a discussion on a topic or inviting others who you feel would be interested in the group.

If you would like to join the group – please contact Louise Ebrey.
