This introductory workshop immerses participants in Lean construction principles, focusing on customers, value, and waste. Building on previous Lean knowledge, hands-on construction-based activities frame the workshop to help participants understand Lean’s purpose and value in a construction context, alongside key tools.
Learning Outcomes:
• Define who a Construction customer is in Lean context; identify internal/external customers.
• Understand why listening to customers is important and avoid making assumptions.
• Recognise/categorise waste in your work.
• Understand Lean thinking and processes.
• Understand/use key Lean tools, eg SIPOC, process mapping, 5S.
• The course covers stages 1-3 of DMAICT: Define, Measure, Analyse.
