Highways England Product Development and Production Director
Tony Turton is a fellow of the ICE with more than 30 years construction experience.
He has extensive knowledge of the highways industry and was responsible for creating the agency’s first ECI contract. He has delivered in excess of £1billion of highway projects and has been instrumental in changing the way the Highways Agency deliver by changing the agency’s focus from a project to a programme delivery organization.
In 2009 he jointly created the SR10 programme to meet Government demands and instigated the development of the Delivery Hub which together with the projects, has delivered savings in excess of £400 million to date and is forecast to deliver in excess of £700m.
Tony has recently been responsible for the delivery of the innovative Collaborative Delivery Framework which at £5billion was one of the largest design and construction procurement vehicles ever delivered across the Highways sector. In addition, Tony has now taken charge of all schemes in the Construction phase of Smart Motorways.
His aim is to transform the approach within the highways sector into production focused delivery in order to deliver savings in terms of time and cost whilst also improving Health and Safety, sustainability and quality.
